Calluses, Cracks, and Dry Skin

An ashy appearance, thick layers of dead skin, cracked skin, peeling skin, and skin that snaggs on your blankets all fall into this category. Clients are often frustrated that they scrub and scrub but their skin appearance doesn't improve.

Causes of Irregular Skin on the Feet

Fungus

Sometimes your calluses are not improving, no matter how much you scrub or how much lotion you use because you have a fungal infection of the skin. There are different types of fungal infections, which require different solutions. In our office we will determine if you have a fungus, which type of fungus you have, and make a treatment plan that will result in baby butt smooth feet.

Xerosis

Xerosis is a skin condition that can accompany dehydration. Often the skin of the feet will crack, which puts you at risk for infection. These cracks can be quite painful. Typical lotions are not strong enough to relieve these cracks. A topical treatment designed for xerosis is required. Since it is difficult for the cracked skin to reattach through the calluses, we reduce the callusing inside the cracks to speed up the healing process.

Calluses

Thick layers of dead skin can form from a combination of dry skin and pressure. The methods used in many salons can cause chemical burns or be so aggressive that your body forms more calluses to defend itself. The location of calluses can also give clues as to underlaying structural issues that put pressure on your foot in an unexpected location. Safe, gentle reduction, medicated topical treatment, and possibly an improvement in your foot ware can make a huge difference.
